Local Keyword Research: How to Find the Phrases Your Buyers Actually Type

Local keyword research is not about chasing the biggest search volume. It is about finding the phrases that real, ready-to-buy customers type — and making sure each page targets one of them clearly.

Start with intent, not volume

A phrase like “emergency plumber Dhaka” has less volume than “plumbing tips,” but the intent is night and day. One person needs help now; the other is browsing. Chase intent.

The three keyword patterns that matter

  • Service + city — “dentist in Chattogram.”
  • Near me — “AC repair near me.”
  • Problem-based — “tooth pain at night.”

Group by intent, one page per keyword

Once you have your list, cluster the phrases by intent and give each cluster its own optimized page — one page per service, one per city. This keeps every page focused and tells Google exactly what to rank it for.

Do a competitor gap analysis too: the keywords your competitors rank for but you do not are your fastest wins. Local keyword research done well makes every other SEO effort more effective.
